Partly Facetious: more inflationary policies

"I really can't believe this government's economic credentials."

"I really can't believe this government's economic credentials."
"Whatever do you mean? The Chosen One was in Citibank and..."
"That means he was in commercial banking, you don't need an economics degree to be in commercial banking."
"Well, I think he does have the qualifications."
"Maybe some qualifications and some on the job training. But I still don't believe he has the necessary economic credentials to assess the macro picture. Maybe enough for assessing the micro picture but not the macro. I mean first the guy wanted to tackle rising inflationary pressures through setting up a committee which was to monitor prices for the sole purpose of ending racketeering."
"I thought racketeering was only during Ramadan..."
"During Ramadan it is more focused if you know what I mean. But unfortunately in this country racketeering is pretty widespread throughout the year. In any case, inflation is not only due to racketeering. I mean there are a number of macro steps he has taken which have directly contributed to inflationary pressures."
"Like what?"
"Like increasing the credit supply in the country which has overheated the economy. And you know what he plans to do now?"
"What?"
"He is planning to increase the salaries of civilian and military personnel as well as their other allowances."
"Well, with the rise in the international price of oil it is hard for anyone not involved in corruption and on a government salary to make ends meet."
"It may be hard to find anyone not involved in corruption. Besides it is also hard for the millions unemployed and the poor earning less than a dollar a day to make ends meet."
"Anyway, the bureaucrats and the military personnel have to be able to live too."
"Does the Chosen One realise that this is an extremely inflationary policy? That wage rises fuel inflation and that he will be unable to control inflation once he does raise these salaries."
"I don't think so. All he cares about is importing Mercedes and..."
"And now you are being unfair to him. Yes he did order the cars but I also think he has to appease the sensibilities of the politicians."
"What sensibilities? To drive around in luxury at government expense?"
"I guess."
"But as head of government he will have to take blame. I mean if you can enjoy the perks take the blame as well."
"Indeed."
